UES Hardware New Zealand’s newly appointed Country Manager Peter Barrett is leading a major transformation to make it easier for Kiwi manufacturers to access the hardware components they need, when they need them, with a dedicated e-commerce platform set to launch later this year.
The new platform will provide customers with live updates on stock availability, on-account pricing and simple online ordering.
“The platform will make sourcing hardware faster and more convenient for New Zealand’s manufacturers, who rely on dependable supply to keep production moving,” Peter says.
“We’ve increased stock levels, realigned our pricing to match market expectations, and built direct supplier relationships to get products to customers faster – so they can spend less time waiting and more time working.”
The online sales platform follows UES Hardware’s move to a larger, purpose-built facility in Wiri in April 2024.
“The move has allowed the team to improve everything from stock management and pricing to freight and logistics and we’re excited to continue to deliver new initiatives to exceed customer expectations,” Peter says.
About 80 percent of UES Hardware New Zealand’s products now come directly from international suppliers, reducing freight times and creating a more stable, cost-efficient supply chain. The result is faster turnaround, fewer stock outs and more competitive pricing for essential components such as toolboxes, drawer slides, gas struts, rubber trims, locks and latches.
“For manufacturers, a reliable supply chain isn’t a nice-to-have, it’s critical. If they can’t source a part locally, their production stops. That’s why we’ve invested so heavily in making stock readily available here in New Zealand.”
Broader range, better choice
UES Hardware New Zealand has also expanded its range to support a wider range of industries, from truck and trailer builders to service body fabricators and marine manufacturers.
A new three-tier toolbox range offers more flexibility across value, performance and premium options. The team is also developing a marine-specific hardware range, featuring stainless steel and marine-grade plastics designed for local boatbuilders, a first for the company’s network.
“We’ve listened to our customers. They told us they wanted more choice, shorter lead times and pricing that reflects the local market, so that’s what we’ve delivered.”
120 years of innovation
While its New Zealand branch was established in 2003, UES Hardware has been supporting Australian and New Zealand industries with engineered hardware solutions for over 120 years. The company’s long-standing focus on quality, reliability and innovation continues to underpin its growth across both markets.
“We’re here to support New Zealand manufacturers with the products, service and responsiveness they deserve. If we can help them deliver faster, work smarter and reduce downtime, then we’re doing our job.”
